NEW ORLEANS –USA's senior Autavia Fluker was recognized as the Sun Belt's Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this year, as it was announced Thursday afternoon by the league office.
Fluker earned her fifth consecutive victory in the hammer throw this season after throwing a 66.78m distance at the Crimson Tide Invitational last weekend. The Bessemer, Alabama native, was 4.75m away from her runner-up and .12m away from her Sun Belt record. Fluker still reigns as the best hammer thrower in the conference.
She also placed fifth place in the shot put with a 15.06m mark after competing against 30 student-athletes at the same meet.Â
The Jaguars will compete at LSU's Boots Garland Invitational on Saturday at the Bernie Moore Track Stadium in Baton Rouge, La.
