South Alabama and West Florida will be meeting on the pitch for the fifth time and for the first time in over two decades. The pair had played four times in 25 months from September 1994 through October 1996 with USA taking the first three meetings. The Jaguars outscored the Argonauts 8-1 in the three ties. UWF took the final match 3-0 on the same pitch the teams will play on Saturday.
The Sun Belt Champion Jaguars are 1-2 in the Spring '21 half of the 2020 campaign, but are posting a plus-seven goal differential after slotting eight past Nicholls State. South got a first-half lead against LSU, but fell to a second-half brace from Tinaya Alexander. The Jags were scoreless against Southern Miss, but were missing key players in Gracie Wilson, Kailey Littleford and Morgan Cross. It was also Danielle Fuentes and Laurence Saviana's debut with the team in competitive play.
West Florida had the fall suspended due to COVID and opted out of Spring play with the exception of two matches against USA.

THEY SAID IT
Head coach Richard Moodie
-
On the preparation: "It's tough coming off a loss, especially when you put so much into it and hoped for a different result. I think you have to come back and keep working. You can't lose sight of the fact that the NCAA tournament is just around the corner and we are still trying to get ready for that. We got a couple knocks, so we are trying to get people healthy and fit. We still lack a little bit of match fitness. It's another opportunity and that's why we put these games together; we want them to have the opportunity to get the game fitness in. We will train for Saturday like it is a top opponent, because it is a top opponent."
-
On West Florida: "They've played Spring Hill and some other games, Joe Bartlinski does an amazing job and West Florida is a great team. It's a local game, but it's a good game for us and will be a challenging for us in many different ways. The Challenge for us will be for us to be at our best and see what we can get out of it. There are a lot of positives that came from the LSU game and things we have to work on [Saturday]."
