SCOUTING THE JAGUARSÂ Â Â
– South Alabama (7-5) enters this weekend's final non-conference tournament after winning three of four at the South Alabama Invitational.
– Offensively, the Jags four starters hitting over .300 with Kennedy Cronan sitting just outside the mark at .294. The junior shortstop also leads the club with nine RBI.
– Cronan leads the team with five doubles, while Meredith Keel, Kamdyn Kvistad and Belle Wolfenden (.345) each have four.
– Keel (.381) has had at least one hit in nine of South's 11 games this season and leads the team with six multi-hit efforts.
– The Jag third baseman has 16 hits and has scored eight runs thus far this spring.
– Mackenzie Brasher leads the club at the plate with a .394 batting average. The Orange Beach, Ala., native has five multi-hit outings this season.
– Kvistad (.360) leads the team with an .880 slugging percentage. Of her nine hits, seven have gone for extra bases a she has four doubles and three home runs.
– Allie Hughen (1-2) paces the Jag pitching staff with a 1.75 earned run average. She has only allowed seven earned runs in 28.0 innings of work.
– Olivia Lackie (5-2) has lowered her ERA to 2.44 over the past few weeks and her 58 strikeouts rank among the conference leaders, and she holds a .159 opponent batting average.
– Over the past two weeks, she has appeared in eight games, earning five wins and a save.
– In her 27.1 innings of work over that stretch, Lackie has allowed just two earned runs (0.51 ERA), and struck out 48, while walking just seven.
– She has also allowed just eight hits and held opponents to a .093 batting average.

SOUTH AGAINST THE SECÂ Â Â
– South Alabama holds an all-time record of 13-45 (.224) against current Southeastern Conference members.
– The game this weekend against the Crimson Tide will mark the 59th in program history versus a SEC opponent.
– The meeting against Alabama will be the fourth of six scheduled for the Jaguars against the league this spring as South will face LSU (March 24) in Mobile, while also traveling to Ole Miss (March 10).
– The Jags split their two meetings at Georgia during the opening weekend of play at 14th Annual Red & Black Showcase. South fell 8-3 to the Bulldogs in game one, but bounced back to defeat UGA 9-8 in game 2.
– The victory at UGA snapped a streak of 12-straight losses against an SEC opponent, 10 of which had come on the road.
– USA also fell 8-3 to Missouri in Mobile this past Friday at the South Alabama Invitational.
– Of the 10 teams South has faced from the SEC, Alabama, Florida and Missouri are the lone teams from the league that the Jags have yet to pick up a win against as they hold at least one victory over the other seven schools that they have faced.
– South has yet to face SEC members Arkansas or Texas A&M.
– The 15 meetings against Alabama are the most against any SEC member, while USA has also faced LSU 13 times and MSU 9.
– South Alabama has faced at least one SEC team in each of its previous 14 seasons of play since the program began in 2007.
