JAGUAR SOFTBALL RETURNS HOME TO TAKE ON MCNEESE STATE; GAME TIME MOVED UP

2021 JAGUAR FIELD POLICIES
– In compliance with CDC and state public health guidance, seating in Jaguar Field is socially-distanced resulting in approximately 25 percent seating capacity this spring.
– Current season tickets holders and home and visitor pass lists are the only fans allowed admittance during the season.
– Face coverings will be required for entry and at all times, except when actively eating and drinking.
– All concession stand transactions are cashless.
– As a reminder, the first row of seats behind home plate, as well as the outfield deck areas are closed to the public for the 2021 season.
– Gates open one hour prior to first pitch.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS    
– South Alabama (16-11, 6-3 SBC) enters the midweek contest versus McNeese State after being swept at No. 16 Louisiana over the weekend.
– The Ragin' Cajuns took a pair of 1-0 games in the first two games of the series, and then closed out the series with a 6-0 victory.
– The Cowgirls were originally scheduled to have been South's home opener back on Feb. 16, but the game was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
– Meredith Keel ranks eighth in the Sun Belt in batting with a .392 average. She is tied for fifth in the league with 31 hits.
– Mackenzie Brasher (.347) is close behind Keel with 26 hits.
– Senior infielder Abby Krzywiecki is second on the club with a .367 batting average to go along with four doubles, three home runs and 15 RBI, which rank as second-most on the team. Her .633 slugging percentage also leads the Jaguars.
– Junior outfielder Caroline Nichols (.326) leads the team in stolen bases with eight, which is tied for eighth-most in the conference.
– Kamdyn Kvistad leads the team in extra-base hits (11), home runs (5) and holds a .585 slugging percentage. Her five home runs are tied for sixth-most in the league and just two shy of the leader in the category.
– Junior infielder Kennedy Cronan has driven in a team-best 19 runs. She is tied for third in the conference in doubles with nine, which also ranks 13th nationally in that category.
– As a team, South Alabama ranks 16th nationally in doubles (43) and 38th in doubles per game (1.59).
– In the circle, freshman Olivia Lackie continues to pace the club as she is 11-5 on the year. In her 99.0 innings of work, Lackie holds a 2.05 earned run average with 133 strikeouts.
– She has tossed seven complete games, including four shutouts while holding opponents to a.164 batting average.
– Coming into the week, she leads the conference in opponent batting average and innings pitched, and is tied with two other pitchers for the most wins.
She is second in the SBC in strikeouts, third in strikeouts looking (32) and sixth in ERA.
– The Walker, La., native eighth in strikeouts nationally and her 11 wins are 10th-most in the NCAA this spring.
– Fellow pitcher Allie Hughen is seventh in the league in ERA (2.07), fifth in opponent batting average (.201) and eighth in innings pitched (54.0).

THE SERIES VS. MCNEESE STATE    
– South Alabama and McNeese have met nine previous times in the all-time series.
– The Jags hold a 6-4 advantage in those contest, including three of four in Mobile.
– Three of the last four games have been decided by four or more runs. Only two contests have been one-run games, while the other eight have been decided by three or more.
– Two games have gone into extra innings and only one has been a run-rule decision.
– McNeese snapped a two-game win streak by South in the series last spring as the Cowgirls defeated the Jags 6-2 in Lake Charles.
– There is only a four-run differential between the two programs in the previous 10 meetings as South Alabama has scored 37 runs in the series, while McNeese has scored 33 runs.

SOUTH AGAINST THE SOUTHLAND    
– South Alabama holds an all-time record of 47-15 (.758) against current Southland Conference members.
– In addition to Tuesday's game against the Cowgirls, South is also scheduled to face SLC member Nicholls State in Mobile on April 6.
– The 10 meetings against McNeese are the third-most against a member from the league, ranking behind Nicholls State (19) and Southeastern Louisiana (14).
– South has dropped four-straight contest versus Southland opponents since going 4-0 against the league during the 2019 season.
