EDINBURG, Texas – Former University of South Alabama men's basketball player Trhae Mitchell will be on the roster of Rio Grande Valley when the NBA G League season gets underway.
He's the second member of last year's senior class to continue his career at the professional level, with Josh Ajayi currently playing for Nantes in France's LNB Pro B league.
A two-time third-team all-Sun Belt selection, Mitchell recorded 1,127 points, 704 rebounds, 310 assists, 185 blocks and 110 steals in 125 appearances for the Jags in his four years with the program. Â He ended his career ranked third in school history in blocks, sixth in rebounds and ninth in assists.
As a senior, Mitchell posted 11.1 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest, adding 77 assists, 47 blocks and 32 steals to help South finish 20-11 overall while earning the second seed at the Sun Belt Tournament. Â The previous season, he recorded career highs with averages of 13.6 points and 7.6 boards per outing as well as with 122 assists, 71 blocked shots and 39 steals while becoming the first individual in program history to lead the Jaguars in rebounds, assists, blocks and steals in the same year.
The complete 2021 NBA G League schedule, which will be contested at a single site in Orlando, Fla., will be announced at a later date.
