MOBILE, Ala. – After wrapping up his basketball career and earning a degree from the University of South Alabama this spring, Josh Ajayi has moved on to the professional ranks.  Nantes, a member of the LNB Pro B league in France, announced on Monday it has added the 6-foot-6 forward to its roster for the 2020-21 campaign.
In his final season with the Jaguars, Ajayi averaged 14.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest, shooting 56.2 percent from the field and 79.6 percent at the foul line to help South finish 20-11 overall and 13-7 in the Sun Belt Conference after ending the year with an eight-game winning streak.  After leading the league in field-goal percentage while ranking among the top 10 in scoring, rebounding, free-throw percentage and double-doubles — he was second in the final category with eight — he was named first-team all-conference as well as first-team all-district by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Ajayi ended his career at USA with 1,691 points, 829 rebounds, 145 assists, 86 steals and 68 blocked shots, shooting 52.6 percent from the floor and 72.7 percent from the free-throw line while starting 112 of his 124 appearances. Â He ended up third on the all-time rebounding list in the school's record books while also standing fourth with 426 free throws made, seventh with 603 field goals and eighth in scoring; he is among the top 25 in rebounding in Sun Belt history as well.
As a junior, he was a second-team all-conference and all-district selection, also making the league's all-tournament team.
Nantes finished 12-11 last year, tying for seventh among the 18 teams in the league standings.
