SCOUTING THE JAGUARS    
– South Alabama (6-15) comes into the opening weekend of Sun Belt Conference play after picking up a pair of wins last weekend at THE Spring Games.
– The Jaguars defeated Iowa on Saturday and then rallied back to defeat Florida Atlantic, 3-2 in nine innings.
– Amanda Flynn was instrumental in bringing the Jags back against the Owls as she had a pair of RBI, her second tying the game, and also recorded her first career home run.
– Flynn leads the club and sits just outside the SBC leaders with a .351 batting average. Her 20 hits are tied with MC Nichols for the team lead in that category.
– Nichols' six multi-hit games are also the most on the team, as well as her seven stolen bases, which tied for fourth in the league.
– Freshman outfielder Mackenzie Brasher (.310) is right behind Nichols with five multi-hit games of her own.
– Kamdyn Kvistad (.284) has driven in a team-high 14 runs, while Katelyn Gruich (.262) has 11 RBI and recorded four home runs, which are tied for fifth-most in the SBC.
– Against FAU, Allie Hughen picked up her first win of the season in the circle as she went the distance for her third complete game of the season and didn't allow an earned run.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS    
– Appalachian State (11-7) enters the weekend after splitting its four games over the weekend at the Spartan Classic in Greensboro, S.C.
– App State was supposed to have faced 19th-ranked Virginia Tech on Wednesday in its home opener, but due to weather the game was postponed.
– Senior pitcher Sydney Holland (7-2) tossed her first career no-hitter on Sunday as the Mountaineers defeated UNC-Greensboro, 2-1. Holland allowed just three base runners with two walks and an error.
– Along with her seven wins this spring, Holland holds a 1.21 earned run average and has registered three of App State's five shutouts.
– Holland is holding opponents to a .142 batting average.
– All-conference selection Kenzie Loganecker holds the other two shutouts for the Mountaineers. As a staff, App State is holding opponents to a .194 batting average.
– Gabby Buruato leads the team at the plate with a .341 batting average.
– Emily Parrott is close behind Buruato with a .320 average. She has 20 hits on the season with five doubles and five RBI.
– Baylee Morton (.255) has four home runs and has driven in 16 runs, both totals tied for fifth in the Sun Belt.

THE SERIES VS. APPALACHIAN STATE    
– South Alabama and Appalachian State have met 15 previous times in the all-time series.
– The Jaguars won the first 11 meetings in the series, but the Mountaineers have taken three of the last four, including last season's series in Boone.
– App State won the last meeting in Mobile (2-0), it's first win on the Jags' home field.
– Overall, South Alabama holds a 69-29 scoring advantage in the series.
– Prior to last season's series, App State had scored a total of 14 runs in the first 12 meetings versus the Jaguars.
