Opening Tip
• The Jaguars play at home for the first time in two weeks.
• This is the start of a three-game stretch that will wrap up South's regular-season home schedule.
• The Red Wolves hold an 11-7 advantage in the series at the Mitchell Center.
• The Jag's most recent win over A-State was a 71-49 decision on March 4, 2017, in Mobile.
• Each of the last four meetings between the two schools has been decided by 10 or more points.

Career Night At Coastal
In the Jaguars' last outing at Coastal Carolina on Saturday, senior Shaforia Kines led all players with a career-high 30 points while adding six rebounds and a season-best four steals as South dropped a three-point decision to the Sun Belt Conference co-leader.  The guard was at her best in the final quarter, when she scored 15 points — more than any other Jag totaled in the entire game.  Prior to her performance, the last time a USA player scored 30 or more points on the road came on Jan. 5 a year ago when teammate Savannah Jones had 30 in a 10-point victory over the Chanticleers in Conway.  It was the 13th occasion this season that Kines has led the Jags in scoring, matching the number of times she turned the trick her first three seasons with the program combined.

Kines Fine Behind The Line
Kines ended the afternoon 7-of-11 from beyond the three-point arc to tie a school game record posted on five previous occasions (including twice by Jones last season), highlighted by making 4-of-5 attempts in the game's final 10 minutes.  That effort helped Kines move past Sarda Peterson — who had 177 threes from 2009-12 — into second place all-time in the category at USA.

Sophomore Posts Career-High Total As Well
Kines wasn't the only individual to record a career-high point total at CCU, as Jala Buster also accomplished the feat with 14 points — her previous best was a 13-point effort in a Nov. 26 win over Mobile — while adding five rebounds last time out.  It marked the third time this season that the sophomore guard/forward has reached double figures in conference play, and the sixth overall, after she came into the contest having scored four points combined in South's previous three contests.  Buster has now connected on a pair of three-point field goals on four different occasions in 2019-20, with three of those efforts coming against Sun Belt opponents, while she has posted five-plus rebounds nine times thus far this season.

Doubling Up
C Antoinette Lewis has finished with a double-double in six of the last eight outings for the Jaguars after putting up 11 points and a team-best 13 rebounds against the Chanticleers, the seventh time she has finished with 10-plus points and boards in a game in league action.  The junior — who passed Kathy Bailey (1981, '83-84) to move into ninth place on South's all-time rebounding list with the performance — added three steals on Saturday; it was the fifth game this season, and first since a Jan. 23 match-up with UTA, in which she has recorded three or more thefts.

Additional Notes From The Coastal Carolina Game
• Sophomore Damaya Telemaque led USA in assists for the third time in the last four outings, while it was the 15th occasion in the last season-plus that she has been credited with five or more helpers.
• South finished with a season-best three-point field goal total, marking the second time this year that it has converted 10-plus in back-to-back outings; the Jags also accomplished the feat against Tennessee State (Nov. 30) and Auburn (Dec. 4) prior to the start of league action.
• The Jaguars forced the Chanticleers to commit 20 turnovers, making it the seventh occasion this year that the opposition has been charged with 20 or more.
• It was the third game this season that the Jags have been credited with 10 or more steals, but the first time that has happened in a regular season Sun Belt contest since visiting Arkansas State on Feb. 7 last winter.
• CCU's DJ Williams became the first opponent to record a triple-double against the Jaguars since Shantel Hardison from Louisiana Tech had one on March 12, 1992.

Notes From The Last Arkansas State Meeting
• South was called for a season-high-tying 25 fouls, leading to the Red Wolves attempting 31 free throws — that total matched the most by an opposing team last year.
• It was the only occasion last season that the Jaguars allowed an opponent to shoot 50 percent or higher from three-point range.
• It's also the last time a Sun Belt foe has hit at least half of its attempts from beyond the arc.
• Coming off a 31-point performance against Troy — still a career high — Jones led the Jags in scoring for the second straight outing.
• It was the fourth of five times a year ago that Jayla Morrow reached double figures in the scoring column.
