SCOUTING THE JAGUARSÂ Â Â
– South Alabama (4-5) enters Tuesday's game at McNeese State after picking up four wins last week, including a 3-0 showing at the Jaguar Challenge.
– South closed out the event with a pair of one-run victories on Saturday. Sunday's finale was canceled due to weather.
– Amanda Flynn leads the Jaguars offensively with a .391 average. The junior outfielder was 4-for-4 against Austin Peay on Saturday and has reached base safely in eight of her nine games this season.
– Freshman outfielder Mackenzie Brasher ranks second hitting at a .375 clip.
– Katelyn Gruich (.348) has eight hits on the year with five of them going for extra bases.
– MC Nichols is hitting .313 and Kamdyn Kvistad (.310) leads the team with nine RBI.
– Jenna Hardy (2-2) has started five games for the Jags this spring and her 20 strikeouts lead the club.
– Lexi Hutchins came out of the bullpen and picked up both wins on Saturday for South.
– She holds a 0.55 ERA and in her 12.2 innings of work in the circle, she has only allowed one earned run.
SCOUTING THE COWGIRLSÂ Â Â
– McNeese State (8-2) comes into the midweek contest versus the Jaguars after going 3-1 this past weekend at the Scrap Yard Tournament in Conroe, Texas.
– The Cowgirls also defeated Texas A&M in College Station last Tuesday.
– Caylon Brabham leads the team with a .450 batting average. Of her nine hits, seven have gone for extra bases as she has six doubles and one home run.
– Alayis Seneca is right behind Brabham with a .375 average.
– Haylee Brinlee has started all 10 games and holds a .318 batting average. She has also scored a team-high eight runs.
– As a staff, the Cowgirls have been impressive in the circle as they rank fifth nationally in earned run average (0.77) and their five shutouts are second-most in the nation.
– All five pitchers on staff currently have an ERA under 1.00.
THE SERIES VS. MCNEESE STATEÂ Â Â
– South Alabama and McNeese have met nine previous times in the all-time series.
– The Jags hold a 6-3 advantage in those contest, including three of four in Mobile.
– With its 8-4 in Mobile last spring, the Jaguars have won three of the last four meetings against the Cowgirls.
