MOBILE, Ala. – After leading the University of South Alabama men's basketball program to a pair of wins last week, head coach Richie Riley has been named the HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Week presented by Just Play Solutions, it was announced on Monday.
On Thursday, the Jaguars rallied from a five-point deficit in the final four minutes to defeat Louisiana 78-75, highlighted by an Andre Fox four-point play with 42 seconds to go that gave South the lead for good. Two days later, USA trailed by as many as 12 points to ULM — including being down 10 early in the second half — but closed the contest on a 7-1 run to pull out a 50-49 victory over the Warhawks after KK Curry put back an offensive rebound with less than a second left on the clock.
Riley currently has the Jags on a season-high four-game winning streak entering Thursday's 6 p.m. (CST) contest at Appalachian State.
He is now eligible to receive the HoopDirt.com National Coach of the Year Award presented by Just Play Solutions, which will be announced at the conclusion of the 2019-20 college basketball season
