SOUTH MEN'S TENNIS ANNOUNCES ITS 2021 SPRING SLATE

MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama men's tennis head coach Nick Brochu announced the 2021 spring schedule on Tuesday afternoon.

"I am very excited about the 2021 spring schedule," stated Brochu. "We are very fortunate to be able to have a similar schedule as in past years, however, we are going to have a smaller conference schedule due to travel limitations due to COVID. We are still happy that we get to get to play. We start the season again with Florida State, each year we have gotten closer and closer to winning against them. We have added some players, and hopefully, that will help over there."

The Jaguars will open the spring season on the road as they head to Tallahassee, Fla., to take on Florida State on Jan. 22. After the Florida State Invitational, South Alabama will return home to the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts on Jan. 30 for a doubleheader with West Alabama. USA will then remain at home to host a pair of matches against Florida Atlantic on Feb. 7 and Nicholls on Feb. 10.

The Jags will return to action on Feb. 13 as they travel to Starkville, Miss. to face Mississippi State. South will then head to Birmingham, Ala. for a pair of matches against UAB on Feb. 20 and Samford on Feb. 21.

"We also added Mississippi State to our schedule," said Brochu. "That is a great addition because they are ranked No. 2 in the nation, but this is a new team now. They have had a lot of young players, so I think when we go to Starkville we need to be ready for a battle. We can challenge them and even come back with the win."

The Jaguars will return home to face South Florida on Feb. 26 and North Florida on Feb. 28 to close out the month. Following two home matches, USA will head to Florida to take on UCF on March 9, Florida Atlantic again on March 10 and Florida Gulf Coast on March 11. South Alabama will then return home for three matches, playing host to Middle Tennessee on March 21, Troy on March 26 and Louisiana on March 28.

The Jags will wrap up the regular season by playing three of their final four matches on the road. South Alabama will face Georgia Southern on April 2 and Georgia State on April 3 in Troy, Ala. USA will host its last home match of the season on April 10 against Virginia Commonwealth and will close out the season with Southern Mississippi on April 11 in Hattiesburg.

"We have South Florida, who is also in the top 40, and we have North Florida and VCU," said Brochu. "These are two top 75 teams, so this spring season is going to be challenging. We have 12 home matches, and that's good considering the limitations this year.

"We need to have a strong mindset against Georgia State," stated Brochu." "We are also playing Louisiana, Troy and Georgia Southern, so those matches are good preparation before the conference tournament."

The Sun Belt Championships will take place from April 23-25 in Atlanta, Ga., with NCAA Regionals slated for May 7-9. NCAA Super Regionals are scheduled for May 15, with the NCAA team and singles/doubles championships set to take place in Orlando, Fla., from May 20-25 and May 26-29, respectively.
