JAGUAR SOFTBALL ADDS MCGLOTHLIN TO FALL SIGNEE CLASS

12/17/2020 8:44:00 AM

MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama softball head coach Becky Clark announced the addition of Erin McGlothlin to the fall class on Thursday.

"Erin will add a very solid left-handed bat to our 2021 class," Clark said. "She can hit for average and power and has great speed to go along with it. She has played on one of the top travel teams in the nation, which afforded her the benefit of facing great competition and great pitching. Defensively, she can play any of the three outfield positions. She has an extremely competitive mentality and is a hard-nosed, gritty player. I know she will continue to grow and develop once she gets in our system. I am excited for her and look forward to getting her on campus next fall."

McGlothlin joins fellow class members Rachel Everett (Hartland High School – Hartland, Mich.), Stephanie Gonzalez (Pembroke Pines Charter High School – Pembroke Pines, Fla.), Gabby Stagner (Faith Academy – Mobile, Ala.) and Shelby Garrett (Frostproof Middle Senior High School – Frostproof, Fla.) who were announced last month in this fall's class.

Keys Gate Charter School | Jersey Intensity 18 Premier KOD

McGlothlin has lettered the past seven seasons in softball at Keys Gate Charter School in Homestead, Fla., for head coach Leo Alvartz. In her 54 games at the prep level, McGlothlin holds a .411 career batting average with 65 hits, 74 runs scored and 39 RBI.

She was named first-team all-county as a sophomore and as a freshman, while also earning honorable mention to the 6A-2A al-Dade Softball squad.

Along with Everett, Extra Inning Softball ranked the incoming outfielder No. 60 on its list. This past summer at USA Nationals in Oklahoma, McGlothlin batted .629 with seven doubles, three triples and two home runs against top-level competition.

Last season, McGlothlin and the Lady Knights competed in just nine games before having the remainder of their season cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to that, the 5-foot-7 outfielder was batting .400 with 12 RBI and 15 runs scored. Of her 10 hits, four were for extra bases – two doubles and two home runs – while she posted a .720 slugging percentage and a 1.203 OPS.

As a sophomore, McGlothlin batted .328 with 19 hits, 17 runs scored and 10 runs driven in, while also recording five triples, three doubles and 11 stolen bases. She had at least one hit in 13 of her 20 games played with her best outing at the plate coming in the season opener versus Mosignor Pace where she was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple and two runs scored to go along with her three RBI.

During her freshman season, McGlothlin also saw time in the circle were she recorded seven wins, struck out 128 and held a 2.31 earned run average in her 94 innings of work. At the plate, she posted a .486 batting average, scored 42 runs, drove in 17, while also carding nine extra-base hits, including five doubles. McGlothlin was also a threat on the base paths as she ended the season with 17 stolen bases.

McGlothlin has also played travel ball for Jersey Intensity 18 Premier KOD.
