NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference office announced revised schedules for the 2020-21 basketball season on Thursday, with new features including play only within divisions and mirrored dates for the league's men's and women's programs.

Play for the University of South Alabama and the Sun Belt's other 11 schools will begin on Friday, Jan. 1 and run through Saturday, Feb. 27, with the conference tournament scheduled to be held in Pensacola, Fla., March 5-8.  Teams will play two games in two days at one site throughout the regular season with an exception made the weekend when rivals meet.

South's men's team will begin Sun Belt action with four straight games on the road, visiting Georgia Southern Jan. 1-2 and Coastal Carolina on Jan. 8-9.  That will be followed by four consecutive contests at the Mitchell Center as the Jags are scheduled to play host to Appalachian State on Jan. 15-16 and Georgia Southern Jan. 22-23.  The opening month of conference play will end with Georgia State coming to Mobile Jan. 29-30.

The Jags are set to host Coastal Carolina Feb. 5-6, ending a three-game homestand on Thursday, Feb. 11 against Troy.  Following a visit to the Trojans on Feb. 13, USA's final trip will take it to Appalachian State Feb. 19-20 with the regular season concluding at home against Georgia State on Feb. 26-27.

The Jaguar women are slated to open league play with consecutive weekends in Mobile, playing host to Georgia Southern (Jan. 1-2) and Coastal Carolina (Jan. 8-9), and will then travel to take on Appalachian State (Jan. 15-16) and Georgia Southern (Jan. 22-23).  On the final weekend of the month, Georgia State visits the Mitchell Center on Jan. 29-30.

Action in February will feature five of eight contests away from home, beginning with a Feb. 5-6 trip to Coastal Carolina.  The Jags will face rival Troy on the road Thursday, Feb. 11 and at the Mitchell Center on Feb. 13, with Appalachian State visiting Feb. 19-20 on the final home weekend of the regular season.  USA's last two games prior to the conference tournament will be at Georgia State on Feb. 26-27.

Season ticket information and both program's non-conference schedules are expected to be released in the near future.
