SOUTH’S GUAJARDO A GROZA AWARD “STAR OF THE WEEK”

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The University of South Alabama's Diego Guajardo has been selected one of the Lou Groza Award's NCAA FBS "Stars of the Week" it was announced by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission on Monday.

College football fans can visit https://www.lougrozaaward.com/20SOTW4 on the web in order to select this week's "Star of the Week."

After hitting from 33, 24 and 44 yards out in the Jaguars' 30-20 Homecoming victory over Texas State on Saturday, Guajardo became the first USA placekicker to convert three field goals in a game since Gavin Patterson accomplished the feat Sept. 30, 2017, at Louisiana Tech.  That was also the last time a Jaguar kicker scored 10 or more points in a contest until Guajardo finished with a career-best 12 against the Bobcats.

The sophomore from Spanish Fort, Ala. — who is 7-of-9 on field-goal attempts thus far this season — currently leads the Sun Belt Conference and is 10th in the country with 1.75 field goals per contest.

Guajardo and the Jags will play host to ULM in the last of four straight games at the new Hancock Whitney Stadium.  Kickoff for the match-up is slated for 6 p.m. (CDT).
