Opening Tip
• South plays host to the Lady Mavericks for the first time since Jan. 12, 2017 — the last five match-ups between the two teams have taken place in either Arlington or New Orleans, La., at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
• UTA claimed the only regular-season meeting last year with a 72-51 defeat of the Jags in Arlington on Feb. 28, but USA responded with a seven-point victory in the semifinals of the league tourney.
• The Lady Mavs have a 6-4 edge in match-ups in the regular season since joining the conference in 2013-14.
• The Jaguars won the first two Sun Belt meetings between the two programs in overtime, but since then seven of 10 contests have been decided by a double-digit margin.
• UTA's 50 points in last year's postseason match-up were the fewest South has allowed in the series.

Awesome Antoinette
Junior Antoinette Lewis led all players with 25 points, 10 rebounds and three steals to help the Jags past Georgia Southern Saturday afternoon, her second double-double in conference play and her Sun Belt-leading eighth of the year.  She contributed three layups in a 16-2 run to begin the fourth quarter and break open a tie game while scoring 20-plus points for the second time in the last four outings, while it was her first double-double since South played Coastal Carolina on Jan. 4.  The effort was the 30th of the junior's career in which she has finished with 10 or more rebounds, leaving her 12 shy of entering the top 10 on the program's all-time list in the category.

Savvy Shooter
Guard Savannah Jones chipped in with 23 points in the victory over the Eagles, which included a 5-of-10 performance from beyond the arc as she tied a season high for three-pointers — she also made five in a 25-point effort on Dec. 20 at East Tennessee State — while recording 20 or more points for the first time since South opened league play with a win over Appalachian State on Jan. 2.  It was the third time this season that USA has had multiple individuals score 20 or more points in the same contest, and the second occasion the two juniors have accomplished the feat after also combining to turn the trick in a win over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Nov. 14.

Helping Hand
Senior G Shaforia Kines was the only other Jag in double figures in Statesboro, posting 14 points as well as a season-high six assists in the victory.  Not only does Kines lead the squad with 15 games scoring in double digits, her assist total was the highest recorded by a South player in Sun Belt action this season as with 306 in her career she moved past Marcey "T.R." Clements into the top 10 in the school's all-time record book.

Scoring List Shake-Up
It was the eighth occasion this year that the trio of Jones, Kines and Lewis has scored 10-plus points in the same contest, including the third time in the last four outings they have turned the trick.  With the effort, Jones became the 17th individual in program history to surpass 1,100 career points — moving past Chanta Powell, who had 1,099 from 1989-92 — while Lewis and Kines both climbed above Jessica Webb (1998-00) and round out the top 20 on South's all-time scoring list.

Notes From The Field
The Jaguars have now won four of their last five games when shooting 40 percent or better from the field after making 24-of-60 attempts last time out; South has a 39.5 field-goal percentage for the season, but has upped that mark to 42.9 percent since the start of conference play.  However, it was the first time since defeating Lamar in the opening round of the WNIT on March 22 last year that the Jags have come out victorious when the opposition has shot better than 40 percent from the floor after the Eagles connected on 43.1 percent (25-of-58) in the contest

Additional Notes From The Georgia Southern Game
• The Jaguars' 16-2 spurt at the start of the fourth period featured six points each from Jones and Lewis, with Jayla Morrow and Jala Buster adding baskets as well.
• Damaya Telemaque's rebound total — she finished with eight — was her highest of the season, and the most she has been credited with since pulling down 10 in the Jags' regular-season finale on March 9 a year ago..
• Kennedi Centers has posted five or more rebounds in five of the last six contests after finishing with six against the Eagles.
• South posted 22 points off 21 GS turnovers, recording a 16-9 edge in fast-break points.
• The Jags went to the line 32 times while the Eagles attempted just 13 foul free throws.
