NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama volleyball senior middle blocker Kelley Hartman was named 2019 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Hartman was the lone Jaguar to be voted to the team, which was selected via a vote by the conference's head coaches. She was a 2018 Second-Team All-Sun Belt selection after finishing the season ranked tied fifth in the league in service aces per set (0.31), and 10th in hitting percentage (.296).
Last year, Hartman led the Jaguars in total kills (291), service aces (34), service aces per set, total blocks (102) and blocks per set (0.92). She recorded 15 matches with double-digit kill totals, including a season-high 20 at Georgia Tech.
Texas State's Cheyenne Huskey was named the Sun Belt Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while the Bobcats' Micah Dunwiddie was selected as the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and Texas State's Emily DeWalt was picked as the Sun Belt Preseason Setter of the Year.
The Sun Belt Coaches' Preseason Poll was also released on Tuesday. South Alabama was picked to finish fourth in the East Division behind Coastal Carolina, which received seven first place votes, followed by Appalachian State with five first-place votes. Texas State was picked to win the Sun Belt West Division with all 12 first-place votes.
