Lawson Joins Jaguar Roster

MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama head coach Jesse Ortiz announced the addition of Delaney Lawson (Fort Wayne, Ind.), transferring from Utah State. Lawson joined the roster for the winter semester and will compete this spring for the Jaguars.

Head coach Ortiz on Delaney Lawson: "Delaney is a tremendous volleyball player and trained by some of the best! She was a standout in her club career playing for the prestigious Munciana Volleyball Club. In the gym, she has a strong work-ethic and holds herself accountable. We are really excited about Delaney."

AT UTAH STATE
-    Lettered two seasons at Utah State

SOPHOMORE SEASON (2025)
-     Appeared in 26 matches for the Aggies with four starts
-    Posted 28 kills, 11 assists and one ace, plus 101 digs and five blocks on the season
-    Recorded a season-high eight kills and two blocks against San Jose State and season-high 10 digs and her lone ace of the season against Air Force

FRESHMAN SEASON (2024)
-    Appeared in all 29 matches and started 20 as a true freshman
-    Recorded 170 digs, 76 kills, 21 assists, 13 aces and 10 blocks on the season
-    Posted a season-high 13 kills at Utah
-    Recorded a season-high 14 digs versus Green Bay
-    Finished a season-high three aces versus New Mexico
-    Had a season-high three total blocks at BYU
-    Posted two matches with double-digit kills and four matches with double-digit digs
-    Named a Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Mountain West Conference

AT BELLMONT HIGH SCHOOL
-    Four-year letterwinner at Bellmont High School in Decatur, Ind.
-    Totaled 1,374 kills in her high school career, including 412 as a senior, 433 as a junior, 330 as a sophomore and 199 as a freshman
-    Was a two-time all-state and four-time all-conference selection
-    Helped lead Bellmont to three state runner-up finishes
-    Ranked as one of the Top 10 outside hitters in class 3A and was No. 1 at the position in her conference
-    Played nine years of club volleyball for Munciana where she was named as an All-American at the age of 16
-    Helped lead Munciana to an AAU 18 national title in 2023, while the team was the national runner up at 14
