Box Score (PDF)

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat Georgia State 10-7 and secure a three-game series sweep in Sunday's series finale at Stanky Field.

USA (19-20, 8-10 Sun Belt) faced a 7-6 deficit after 7 ½ innings, but plated four runs in the bottom of the eighth on a two-run single by Reid Powers and two-run double by Kaleb DeLaTorre to earn its fourth consecutive win.

South Alabama will return to action Tue., April 23, when it travels to Montgomery, Ala., for a 6 p.m. contest with Alabama State. The Jaguars and Hornets will complete the Feb. 19 game that was suspended at Stanky Field in the bottom of the fourth inning due to fog at 3 p.m., followed by the scheduled 6 p.m. contest.

GAME FACTS
- Georgia State (12-28, 3-15 Sun Belt) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a one-out RBI single to right field by Brandon Bell.
- USA answered in the bottom of the third to tie the game. Michael Sandle reached on a hit by pitch with two outs, moved to second on a single by Carter Perkins and scored on an RBI single to left field by Santi Montiel to tie the score at 1-1.
- The Panthers responded with a run in the top of the fourth on a one-out RBI single to left field by Rhett Harper to take a 2-1 lead. Luke Leonard followed with a sacrifice fly to right field to extend the GSU lead to 3-1.
- The Jags answered in the bottom of the fourth when Kaleb DeLaTorre lifted the first pitch he saw from GSU left-hander Tyler Koch over the right field wall for a solo home run to cut the Georgia State lead to 3-2. Dakota Dailey then reached on a walk before Bennett Shell delivered a bunt single to first. Ethan Wilson followed a two-run single to center field for a 4-3 Jaguar lead.
- The Panthers answered in the top of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly to right field by Griffin Cheney to tie the game at 4-4.
- USA took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a one-out RBI single through the right side of the infield by Dakota Dailey. Shell followed with a sacrifice fly to center field to plate DeLaTorre, who reached on a hit by pitch earlier in the inning, for a 6-4 Jaguar advantage.
- Georgia State took a 7-6 lead in the top of the eighth inning on a pinch-hit, three-run home run to right field by Terrell Frazier.
- Perkins drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the eighth, and was lifted for pinch-runner Colton Thomas, who advanced to third with no outs on a double to right field by Montiel. An intentional walk to Wells Davis loaded the bases for Reid Powers, who delivered a two-run single up the middle to score Thomas and Montiel for an 8-7 Jaguar lead. DeLaTorre then delivered a two-run double down the left field line to plate Davis and Powers with the game's final runs.

NOTES
- DeLaTorre extended his on-base streak to 11 games with a one-out walk in the bottom of the second inning.
- Montiel extended his on-base streak to eight games with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the third inning.
- Davis extended his on-base streak to nine games with a leadoff walk in the bottom of the second inning.
- Wilson extended his hitting streak and on-base streak to 11 games with a two-run single in the bottom of the fourth inning.
- Right-hander Nick DeSantis (4-2) allowed three runs on four hits with one strikeout in 1 2/3 relief innings to earn the win.

- Greene recorded saves in each game of the three-game series, marking the first time a Jaguar has posted saves in all three games of a series since Lance Baxter accomplished the feat April 17-19, 2009, at Louisiana.
- DeLaTorre went 2-for-3 with a double, one home run, three RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Jags at the plate. Powers added the first two RBIs of his career along with one hit and two runs scored, and Wilson finished with one hit and a pair of RBIs.

Head Coach Mark Calvi
- On the win:
"That was huge with Reid (Powers). He was down 0-2 with one of their (Georgia State) best relievers last year on the mound. Reid Powers was big for us. Ethan Wilson had a big two-run single; (Kaleb) DeLaTorre, Powers and Wilson were the RBI guys today, and a couple of other guys had some good at-bats. It was kind of up and down, and if you stay with the ebbs and flows then it will be too much – you just stay level-headed and keep playing. I thought our guys did a good job of that – just playing the next play that was in front of them and playing the game the right way."

- On the series sweep:
"To get three wins to start off the second half (of conference play) is huge. Momentum is all about how well you pitch and play defense at that time. Mentally, our guys feel good and they should. We won three games and have put together a few wins in a row. Some guys are doing some good things, but we'll need to continue that and get our own momentum on Tuesday."
