NEW ORLEANS, La. - Antoinette Lewis has been named the Sun Belt Women's Basketball Player of the week for Monday, Jan. 28. This marks the third time this season Lewis has been honored with the award, and fourth time in her career. The sophomore forward from Memphis, Tenn., was instrumental in the University of South Alabama's two wins this week, putting up back-to-back 20 point games, shooting 64.5 percent from the field, and averaging 23 points and nine rebounds per game. 

Lewis and the Jags battled back against ULM on Saturday afternoon at the Mitchell Center and closed the game out on a 47-9 run. Lewis dominated in the paint and posted a career-high 26 points to go along with 14 rebounds to notch her fifth double-double of the season. Tallied among those 14 rebounds were nine offensive boards that were crucial to the Jaguars momentum and eventual win over the Warhawks. Lewis connected on 12-of-17 from the floor for an outstanding 70.5 percent in the game. 

In the 23-point win vs. the Ragin Cajuns of Louisiana on Thursday night, Lewis went for 20 points, four rebounds, and tallied three assists. 

Lewis has been one of the most consistent Jaguars all season, and is the lone Jag to start in all 19 games for Coach Fowler's squad. For the year, Lewis is leading the Jags with 14.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game, and has registered 34 blocked shots. Lewis is the Sun Belt leader in field-goal percentage at .614, second in the conference in blocked shots and second in offensive rebounds per game (3.7).
