Hardy followed with a single to center field, and moved to second with one out on a single through the right side of the infield by Brendan Donovan. Carter Perkins then delivered an RBI single to right-center field to plate Hardy and extend the USA lead to 4-0. Wells Davis reached on a hit by pitch from Fraze to load the bases with one out for Michael Sandle, who drew a walk to score Donovan for a 5-0 advantage. - Texas State scored its lone run of the game on a two-strike, two-out double to right field by Sherley in the bottom of the ninth inning, which broke up Carr's no-hit bid, after Jaguar right fielder Michael Sandle's diving attempt came up just short of making the grab for the final out.

QUOTES
Head Coach Mark Calvi
- On Tyler Carr's performance:
"It was as good as I have seen him. Tyler (Carr) has been really good for us this year. He has embraced the Friday-night role. He faced a guy (Fraze) with the best numbers in the league tonight, and he was fantastic today. He had a wind blowing out, but had good sink on his fastball and didn't miss over the plate much at all. Tyler pitched in and used both sides of the plate very well. He probably threw 80 percent fastballs and mixed his breaking ball in there early. He just had really good command and competed like he always does. He had a very good game tempo – I can't say enough good things about Tyler Carr tonight and this year with his efforts as a senior."
- On being part of a no-hitter as a player or coach:
"As a player I was, but I can't remember one as a coach. Obviously, my number-one concern is the player's health and that we win the game. I didn't want Tyler to stay out there too long in search of that no-hitter. Mike Sandle gave it a great effort, and we won the ballgame – that's all that matters."
- On Dylan Hardy:
"(Dylan) Hardy's play in left field was unbelievable. He's gotten better and better throughout the years in left field and turned himself into an All-American type player in my opinion, and not just defensively. He's one of the guys on this team that you want up with the game on the line. I'm glad we have more than one; we have a bunch of guys, but there's no one I wanted up there with a lefty on the mound than Dylan Hardy. He shot the ball up the middle and drove in two big runs for us. What a great day he had. He started us off with a home run in the first game, and came up huge there in the end with the two-run single then an unbelievable play going over the wall and making a great catch. This is a guy who two years ago as a freshman struggled catching balls in batting practice; he was an infielder by trade. To see him make plays like that – people need to know how hard this kid has worked on a daily basis on his defense to turn himself into the player that he is right now."
- On game two:
"The second game had that feel to it early on when we scored three runs and they answered back – my thought was whoever could settle the game down the quickest would be the team that would probably win. You give (Will) Eiland credit coming in, Zach Melton was pretty good and give (Nick) DeSantis a lot of credit. He gave up back-to-back home runs, and he's not used to that. He's coming off Tommy John surgery, and things kind of come and go. He's barely a year off of surgery, and for him to be out there competing like he has this year and the way he compete tonight – I can't tell you how proud I am of Nick DeSantis and Zach Greene on the mound coming in behind him. Greene threw 40-plus pitches Wednesday night, and he would have killed me if I didn't bring him in tonight. He wanted the ball and was chomping at the bit. I thought it was the right time to go to him, and he just did a heck of a job for us."
RHP Tyler Carr
- On his near no-hitter:
"I was shaking on the mound and my heart was pounded; I could feel it in the eighth (inning) with two outs. I was really just pitching to contact, and got some soft ground balls and the defense made great plays. Everybody worked for it. There is no other feeling like it – the feeling you get in your stomach, just knowing you could have a no-hitter. It's a little sickening to not get it, but you look at the outing and it was a good one. I'm happy with myself, just wish I could have gotten that last guy out."
