THEY SAID IT
USA head coach Terry Fowler
USA head coach Terry Fowler
Opening statement: "I thought we came out early and played pretty well, and then went stagnant a little bit and got happy with the three. We felt like our advantage was on the inside, and in the third and fourth quarter we took advantage of that; we tried to get the ball inside, then we were able to make some threes as well. It's been a long time since we had a win, it feels good so hopefully we got that monkey off our back and we can just keep playing for the next three ball games."

On ending the team's losing streak: "Once you start having success expectations change not only from within but from the outside as well. I feel like as the losses kept coming we kept putting more and more pressure on us, so this is a big sigh of relief and we just have to move forward now. To see the ball go through the basket is always something that is good for our confidence. I thought we did a pretty good job defensively, we didn't defend the three as well but otherwise we did a good job.  We have to keep moving forward and prepare for Louisiana on Saturday."

On breaking the game open in the fourth quarter: "We just wanted to get the ball inside, I thought our forwards were posting strong and we were able to go high-low, throw the ball inside and get some good angles to score. From that point we were able to pass the ball back out and get some open threes, just get the ball moving which I thought helped us get some easy buckets."

Senior C Chyna Ellis
On ending the team's losing streak: "It feels good to just end the streak and get our confidence back.  Now we realize that the season is almost over so we have to start getting back to what we were doing at the beginning of the season, which was playing with each other and for each other, having fun and moving the ball; just having the will and the desire to win."

Freshman F/C Antoinette Lewis
On her performance in the fourth quarter: "Like coach said, we had the advantage in the paint and in my head I wasn't losing again, I was sick of it.  They were our last win before we went on this losing streak, I was ready to win so I did what I had to do for the team."
