THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Richard Moodie
On the loss: "We got off to a slow start but I felt that after we conceded the first goal, we got a reaction and got into the game. Tactically we made some adjustments and had the right players on. We finished the half and could have easily had gotten another one but went into the half 1-1 and had the upper hand for sure. The second half was no different. I don't know where the shot count came from but we didn't have them for any shots until we make another mistake that cost us a goal. That's been the story of the season – we can't capitalize on other team's mistakes and they capitalize on ours. We played fantastically and I told them after the game that we were the better team again, but nobody cares about that, they just care about the score. Long term, you care about what your team's putting out there. If we could have a goal scorer amongst us, we'd be a different team right now."
On the winning goal: "There was a long ball over the top and there was some miscommunication between our center back and our goalkeeper and their girl gets in between them. She hasn't done anything all game to pose a threat other than that one chance. It's demoralizing when you outplay a team. We didn't create that many good chances, to be honest. It's hard because we played so well and I'm running out of things to say to these girls other than, we'll go again. We have to take it like champions."
On Cross' goal: "It was a good time to score. I think the momentum swayed after we conceded. It shouldn't take a goal for us to get into the game, but to score right before the half, we had our tails up and we definitely had the better of them in the first half."
On conceding late: "It was a great strike. You can't give one of the most dangerous players on the field the ball and hope that nothing happens. We shoot ourselves in the foot a lot of times. There are games where we have to limit mistakes and not make many errors, and today would have been one of those games, but unfortunately we made a couple and it cost us. The difference Thursday is we made a couple of errors and Justice saved us. That's the difference."
