Opening Kick
• This concludes a three-game stretch on the road for the Jaguars.
• It's the only contest away from home in October for the Jags.
• South has a 3-7 mark in Sun Belt Conference play on the road in the month, with the last two of those wins coming at rival Troy during the 2015 and '17 campaigns.
• USA is 21-10 all-time — although just 8-9 in league action — in October.
• USA has lost its last four games played in Georgia, with its most recent win in the state coming in a 38-17 defeat of Georgia State in Atlanta on Nov. 30, 2013.
• The Jaguars have 11 individuals who hail from Georgia on the travel roster, the second-highest total outside of Alabama.

South Alabama-Georgia Southern Series Notes
• The Eagles have scored at least 24 points in winning each of the first four meetings between the two programs.
• That includes averaging 53.5 points per outing in the two matchups in Statesboro.
• South has been held to a single-digit figure in three of the four contests.
• The Eagles' rushing total each of the first four meetings in the series ranked among the top 10 on USA's opponent record list entering the season.
• The Jaguars have recorded the fewest (136 in 2015) and fourth-lowest (195 in '17) yards of total offense in the two contests at Paulson Stadium.

Notes From The Last Georgia Southern Meeting
• It marked the first time in South's first 101 games that it had been shut out.
• Half of the Jaguars' 14 possessions were three plays or less, leading to the Eagles holding the ball for 39 minutes and 11 seconds; that's the second-highest figure ever recorded by an opponent in the USA record books.
• Jag S Jeremy Reaves — now a member of the Washington Redskins' practice squad — led all players with 13 stops, becoming the first member of the program to ever post 10 or more in four consecutive contests with the effort.
• Tra Minter set a USA record for catches by running back in a season after recording a pair of receptions in the game.
• Corliss Waitman tied a career high at the time with nine punts for the Jaguars, averaging better than 45 yards per kick for the seventh time on the season on his way to earning first-team all-conference honors.

Notes On Campbell's Coaching/Playing Career
• Campbell's 160-57 mark as a head coach includes going 33-15 over the last four years at Central Arkansas, where he guided the Bears to back-to-back NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearances.
• He has led two programs to national championships — Delta (Miss.) State in 2000 at the NCAA Division II level and Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. to the 2007 National Junior College Athletic Association crown.
• In 19 seasons no team coached by Campbell has finished below .500.
• Campbell has coached on the staffs of Pat Dye (Auburn graduate assistant, 1988-89) and Jackie Sherrill (Mississippi State assistant, 2003).
• Campbell and Jaguar coordinators Kenny Edenfield and Greg Stewart were teammates on Troy's 1987 NCAA Division II national championship squad.

Turner Tough Up Front
DL Tyree Turner had a hand on the Jaguars' lone stop behind the line of scrimmage against the Mountaineers, giving him at least one tackle for loss in each of USA's first five outings this year.  Not only is that the longest streak by a Jag defender since Randy Allen opened the 2016 campaign with a tackle behind the line in eight consecutive contests, but his team-leading five stops for loss this fall ranks among the top 10 in the Sun Belt; with 1½ more Turner will enter the top 10 all-time at South as well.

Three Straight With 200-Plus
Senior Evan Orth posted 225 yards passing last time out at Appalachian State, making him the first Jag quarterback to surpass 200 yards in three straight contests since Dallas Davis accomplished the feat in the final three outings of the 2016 campaign.  With the effort, Orth went over 1,000 yards passing on the season to move into the top 10 on South's season record list, and he is now on pace to set the school record for completion percentage in a season as he has connected on 66.7 percent of his attempts through five contests.

Baker Back At It
Kawaan Baker has reached the end zone at least once in four of the Jaguars' first five outings this fall and now has eight touchdowns on the year after posting USA's lone score at App State on a 2-yard run midway through the first quarter.  The sophomore — who had a career-high 89 yards receiving after hauling in four passes to finish with over 100 all-purpose yards for the first time this season — continues to lead the league with 9.6 points per contest; he is the only individual in the top 10 in the conference in the category with multiple scores both rushing and receiving.

Finding His Way
Senior WR Jamarius Way paced all players last weekend in the App State game with seven receptions, the fourth outing a row that he has led the Jaguars in the category.  It's the second time in as many years that he has accomplished the feat in four straight contests — Way first did it from Sept. 8-30 last fall — as he enters October as the only player in the Sun Belt averaging 100 receiving yards per game.  Way, who enters October among the top 15 in the country in catches and receiving yards per game, can surpass current Los Angeles Ram Gerald Everett and move into the top five all-time at South with 31 receiving yards.

Flight Interrupted
The Jag defense recorded two second-half takeaways against the Mountaineers, with Gus Nave intercepting his first pass of the season and Travis Reed collecting the first pick of his career in the third quarter.  In addition to being on pace to set the school season record in the category — the current standard is 15 interceptions in 2010 — South enters this contest second in the nation with nine, one behind North Texas.  Seven different individuals have contributed to the total, the most for the unit since seven players picked off at least one pass during the 2013 campaign.

Picking Up The Pace In Sun Belt Play
That's what Minter has done thus far this fall, as he has now led USA in rushing in each of the last three outings.  After gaining just 24 yards on 24 carries combined against Louisiana Tech and Oklahoma State, the junior has accumulated 140 yards the last three weeks; his average of 5.8 yards per attempt in league play is double his season mark after the opening month of action.  Minter moved into the top 10 on the Jags' career record lists in both rushing (505) and all-purpose (1,310) yards with his performance against App State.

Stewart Sees Numbers Climb
DE/LB Taji Stewart was one of four Jaguars to share the team lead with seven tackles last time out, with that total nearly double his previous career high set on three occasions.  The junior now has 21 stops this year after posting 17 tackles over 20 games his first two seasons with the program.
