SWAGGERTY NAMED ABCA/RAWLINGS ALL-AMERICAN

ABCA/Rawlings Division I All-America Teams

GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of South Alabama baseball sophomore outfielder Travis Swaggerty was named a Division I All-America by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings for the 2017 season.

Swaggerty was a second-team All-America selection by the ABCA All-America committee after earning first-team all-South Central Region honors last week, which made him eligible for All-American honors.

The Mandeville, La., native was a first-team all-Sun Belt Conference selection after leading the league in on-base percentage (.484), which ranked 12th nationally, RBI (60) and runs scored (55), ranked second in batting average (.363) and total bases (125), and fourth in stolen bases.

He batted .417 with one double, one RBI, two runs scored and one stolen base while posting a .533 on-base percentage in three games at the SBC Tournament to earn all-tournament honors.

Swaggerty is competing in the Cape Cod Baseball League – one of three Jags playing in the CCBL – this summer for the Brewster Whitecaps.

Swaggerty becomes South Alabama's 29th All-American after catcher Jared Barnes was named third-team All-America by D1Baseball last week. He is the program's first outfielder to earn All-American accolades since 2004 when Adam Lind was named third-team All-America by the ABCA.

Last season, Swaggerty earned Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball.
