South Alabama holds a 61-34 all-time lead over Southern Miss in a series that began in 1967. The Golden Eagles, ranked 23rd nationally at the time, defeated the Jaguars 4-2 in Hattiesburg earlier this season on March 28.
Last Time Out
USA took two of three games from Arkansas State in Jonesboro, Ark., over the weekend. The Jags dropped the series opener, which was postponed until Saturday as part of a doubleheader due to weather, but rebounded for a 12-2 win in game two of the series and a 15-5 series-clinching win on Sunday's finale. South Alabama defeated No. 11 Mississippi State last Tuesday and Alabama State on Wednesday in Mobile prior to its weekend series at Arkansas State.
On Southern Miss
The Golden Eagles, ranked 25th in this week's D1Baseball.com and Baseball America polls, dropped two of three games to Old Dominion last weekend in Hattiesburg. USM defeated ODU 10-2 in the series opener, but dropped the final two games of the series 13-11 and 9-2, respectively. Southern Miss is 10-5 on the road this year,

South Alabama enters the game ranked second nationally in walks (251), ninth in on-base percentage (.413) and runs per game (8.1), 10th in runs scored (333), 15th in sacrifice flies (23) and 19th in home runs (47).
LABOUNTY, SWAGGERTY IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
Shortstop Drew LaBounty ranks third nationally in walks per game (1.06) and 13th in walks (35), while center fielder Travis Swaggerty ranks 11th in on-base percentage (.497).
JAGS AT STANKY FIELD
USA enters the game 11-3 in 14 home contests this season. The Jags are batting .322 with 28 doubles, five triples, eight home runs, 124 RBI, 142 runs scored, 24 stolen bases and a .477 team on-base percentage in those 14 games. JAGS WITH BASES LOADED
South Alabama is hitting .486 (34-for-70) with the bases loaded this season, led by Travis Swaggerty who has six hits and is hitting .667 with the bags full of Jags. USA has hit six grand slams this season, led by Eddie Paparella with two, following Jared Barnes' game-winning grand slam on April 11 at New Orleans.
RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION
The Jags are batting .325 (151-for-465) with runners in scoring position.Travis Swaggerty leads the team with 18 hits with RISP. The Jags hit .385 (15-for-39) with runners in scoring position in last weekend's series at Arkansas State.

HARDY LEADING THE SUN BELT
Outfielder Dylan Hardy enters Tuesday's game as the Sun Belt Conference leader in batting average (.380), followed by Travis Swaggerty (.378). Hardy has hit safely in seven of his last eight games, including a four-hit performance in Sunday's series finale at Arkansas State which tied a career high. During that span, he is hitting .459 with two doubles, one triple, seven RBI, eight runs scored and five stolen bases while posting a .512 on-base percentage with six multi-hit performances.
JAGS SWEEP SBC WEEKLY AWARDS
Senior right-hander Matt Peacock was named the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week and sophomore Brendan Donovan was named the SBC Player of the Week on Monday. Peacock went 1-0 with one save in two relief appearances last week. The right-hander struck out four and allowed two unearned runs on one hit in 2 1/3 innings to record his fifth save of the season in Tuesday's win against No. 11 Mississippi State. Peacock earned his first career win on Sunday at Arkansas State, and struck out a career-high five batters against one walk and allowed three hits in five scoreless innings. Donovan batted .429 (9-for-21) with a triple, two home runs, six RBI, six runs scored and one stolen base while posting a .480 on-base percentage and .810 slugging percentage in five games last week. Donovan hit safely in all five games, and recorded multiple hits in four of those contests. He drove in at least one run in four of five games, including a pair of multi-RBI performances.
