South Alabama holds an 18-4 all-time lead over Georgia State in a series that began in 1979. The Jaguars took two of three games from the Panthers last year in Atlanta, and has won six of the last seven meetings in the series. USA swept GSU in a three-game series in 2015 the last time the schools met at Stanky Field.

Center fielder Travis Swaggerty enters the weekend as the SBC leader in OBP (.530), which ranks 14th nationally. Swaggerty also leads the league in batting average (.400), and ranks fourth in slugging percentage (.646).

Jaguar right-hander Matt Peacock enters the weekend series tied for third in the conference in saves (3). In six relief appearances this season, Peacock has recorded 10 strikeouts against three walks in 10 2/3 innings pitched.
