“INSIDE JAGNATION” — SOUTH ALABAMA ATHLETICS PODCAST — EPISODE 32

MOBILE, Ala. – The guest for this week's edition of "Inside JagNation," the official podcast of the University of South Alabama Department of Athletics, is Associate Athletic Director/Facility Management Hal Williams.

In the episode, Williams explains both his standard day-to-day duties as well as his schedule when helping run home events for all 17 Jaguar sport programs.  He also talks about the numerous roles he has held in the South Alabama Athletic Department since joining the staff in 1988 — which included serving as head coach of the men's golf squad until the end of the '92-93 season — and the growth of the university and its athletic program since his arrival.

A Mobile native and graduate of Murphy High, Williams played football collegiately at The Citadel before a career-ending injury led him to transfer to USA and work as a student assistant trainer and coach.  After earning his bachelor's degree in education in 1976, Williams became the first-ever women's basketball coach at Cumberland (Tenn.) J.C., where he would move into the role of both head men's basketball coach and athletic director in 1979; during that time he also earned a master's degree in secondary school administration from Middle Tennessee.

He returned to Mobile and was both the boy's basketball and golf coach at McGill-Toolen Catholic High for four years, guiding the Yellow Jackets to three state championships in the latter sport before joining the staff at South as both men's golf coach and NCAA Compliance Officer.
