SOUTH ALABAMA SOFTBALL HOSTS TEXAS-ARLINGTON IN SBC SERIES

MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama softball will look for a fourth-consecutive Sun Belt Conference series sweep this weekend when it hosts Texas-Arlington for  athree-game set on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday's doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. precedes Sunday's game three, set for a noon start. Links to live stats, video and ticket information can be found by accessing the Jaguar softball schedule page. In-game Twitter updates are provided for each USA contest via the program's official handle, @USAJagsSoftball.

USA (21-11, 9-2 SBC) brings a nine-game league winning streak into the weekend after three-game sweeps of Louisiana-Monroe, Appalachian State and Georgia State. The Jaguars are currently second in league standings behind No. 5 Louisiana-Lafayette (29-3, 10-1 SBC).

Texas-Arlington (25-8, 4-5 SBC) has split its last pair of league series after dropping the first two games in its set against the Ragin' Cajuns. UTA run-ruled Georgia Southern in game two before falling in the rubber match, 7-2, to the Eagles. The Mavericks took two games out of three at App State.

South Alabama was scheduled to visit Mississippi State this Wednesday, but the game was rescheduled to April 26 due to rain in the Starkville area. Texas-Arlington fell to North Texas, 1-0, in eight innings in its midweek in Denton.

USA is 6-0 all-time versus the Mavericks, having swept both league series over the past two seasons since UTA's start in the Sun Belt. The Jags outscored UTA, 23-8, last year in three games at Allan Saxe Field.

South Alabama has teamed up with Go4theGoal — an organization committed to raise awareness to help kids with cancer achieve their goals — and Shoe Station to raise awareness and monies for children with cancer.

The Jaguars will wear gold shoe laces when they play host to Texas-Arlington in a Sun Belt Conference doubleheader Saturday, kicking off the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer® promotional campaign that will run through May 31.  All of the proceeds will go to benefit children with cancer being treated at USA Children's and Women's Hospital and their families.

Shoe Station has come on board to sponsor and house the shoe laces — in two sizes, 45" and 54" — for retail sales in the community.  Laces can be purchased at store locations in Mobile, Foley and the Eastern Shore, with the cost $5 per pair; $4 of every sale will go to USA Children's and Women's hospital through Go4theGoal.
