Results

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The University of South Alabama men's tennis team blanked Rollins, ranked No. 26 in Division II, Sunday at the Bert Martin Complex.

The Jaguars won 4-0 over the Tars to improve to 11-7 on the season, while Rollins dropped to 1-9.

"Today was a good opportunity for guys to practice different parts of their games," said USA head coach Nick Brochu. "Even though we were the favorites today, we asked the guys to be really focused and have a very strong start."

In doubles, senior Tim Srkala (Brno, Czech Republic) and junior Tuki Jacobs (Windhoek, Namibia) dropped Henning Ander and Keegan Burger 8-1 at the No. 2 court. Senior Juan Troglia (Mendoza, Argentina) and freshman Lucas Gonzalez (Chateauroux, France) defeated Guilherme Dumit and Hayden Rodrigue 8-4 to secure the doubles point.

"Doubles was excellent," Brochu said. "We did everything we needed to do to close the doubles point quickly."

To start singles, Gonzalez topped Ander 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4, and senior Gerhard Gruindelingh (Pretoria, South Africa) bested Burger 6-2, 6-2 at court No. 5 to put the Jags up 3-0.

"In singles, all six players set up the momentum early and took control of their matches," said Brochu.

Junior Pierre Noyon (Oye-Plage, France) won 6-4, 6-2 over Rodrigue at No. 3 to clinch the victory for USA.

"It is always good to see our solid guys at the bottom of the lineup giving us quick points and securing the win," Brochu said. "We need to get ready for the big challenge tomorrow against FAU."

The Jaguars return to action Monday at 1 p.m. when they travel to Boca Raton, Fla. to take on Florida Atlantic.
