JACOBS BOWS OUT OF ITA ALL-AMERICANS

TULSA, Okla. – University of South Alabama senior Tuki Jacobs (Windhoek, Namibia) was eliminated from the second round of the qualifying draw at the 2016 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships Tuesday.

Jacobs fell 6-3, 7-5 to Julius Tverijonas of George Washington.

"Today's conditions were really tough," USA head coach Nick Brochu said. "It was extremely windy. On one side, Tuki had the wind in his face where he would find himself on defense almost all the time, and on the side the wind would carry the ball long, so he had to hit everything with lots of spin or it would fly out. It was hard making big changes in game plans every two games.

"Tuki fought hard since his offensive game didn't fit the wind as much as his opponent's more safe game. He became more patient in the second set and took the lead. He served for the set at 5-4 and lost a close deuce point. His opponent came up big on the last two games to take the match.

"I think Tuki will learn a lot from this match. Overall it was a good tournament for him beating a highly-ranked player in the first round."

The Jaguars return to the court this weekend for the Battle on the Bayou, hosted by Louisiana-Lafayette.
