2015 SBC Softball Tournament Central

NEW ORLEANS, La. – No. 22 University of South Alabama softball is scheduled to begin play at the 2015 Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 7, at 5 p.m. at Bobcat Softball Stadium in San Marcos, Texas, the league announced on Sunday afternoon within a release containing full bracket and tournament information.
 
The Jaguars (34-10, 16-4 SBC) face the winner of Game 4 [(winner of No. 6 Louisiana-Monroe and No. 7 Texas-Arlington) vs. No. 3 Texas State] after earning a bye through the first round after claiming the number two overall seed. No. 10 Louisiana-Lafayette (37-8, 20-3 SBC) claimed the top seed after winning the 2015 regular season SBC title this weekend. USA has reached the finals of the league tournament in each of the last three years.
 
All games on Wednesday and Thursday will be streamed live on SunBeltSports.org. Friday's three games and the 1 p.m. championship game on Saturday will be televised live on ESPN3.
 
Tournament action gets underway on Wednesday with the opening round contest between No. 5 seed Georgia State (35-20, 14-10 SBC) and No. 8 seed Georgia Southern (12-38, 4-20 SBC) at 10 a.m.  Following that game is the second opening round contest between No. 6 seed Louisiana-Monroe (28-20, 10-12 SBC) and No. 7 seed Texas-Arlington (27-27, 8-15 SBC) at 12:30 p.m.
 
Awaiting the winners of those games will be the No. 3 seed Texas State (32-20, 14-6 SBC) and No. 4 seed Troy (32-22, 14-9 SBC) in the quarterfinals. Troy takes on the GSU-GS winner at 3 p.m., while Texas State faces the ULM-UTA winner at 5:30 p.m.
 
The winners of Wednesday's single-elimination games advance to meet the top two seeds, South Alabama and Louisiana-Lafayette, in double-elimination play beginning on Thursday.
