FOUR TABBED TO NSCAA ALL-REGION TEAM

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of South Alabama soccer team had four players named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-South Region team, it was announced Friday.

The honorees are sophomore Chardé Hannah (Tupelo, Miss.), who was voted to the second team, and senior Nini Rabsatt-Smith (Montgomery, Ala.), junior Sarah Hay (Waxahachie, Texas) and freshman Jemma Purfield (Cottingham, England), who earned third team recognition.

Hannah, a two-time First Team All-Sun Belt Conference performer, ranked fourth in the league in points per game (1.42), tied for third in goals per game (0.58) and tied for ninth in assists per contest (0.26). The Most Outstanding Player in the Sun Belt Tournament, she scored three goals – and one match-winner – in three games, and had her 11-match point streak snapped in the NCAA Tournament at Florida State.

Rabsatt-Smith, who was voted First Team All-SBC and to the Sun Belt All-Tournament team, scored three goals with two assists, and led the second-best defense in the league in terms of both goals allowed (0.96) and goals against average (0.92). The Jaguars shut out four Sun Belt opponents, including three in a row for the first time in school history.

The Sun Belt Freshman of the Year, Purfield finished second in the conference in both assists (11) and assists per game (0.48), and 10th in points (17). One of three players – and the only freshman – on the team to start all 18 games, she gave out three assists in postseason play and recorded the match-winning goal in double overtime at Louisiana-Monroe.

South Alabama's all-time leader in goals against average, Hay tied her own school record for the second consecutive year with a GAA of 0.92. She finished third in the league in that category and second in shutouts per game (0.44). Her eight clean sheets in 2015 are tied for third in school history, and she was named to the SBC All-Tournament team.

The Jaguars went 18-3-2 overall, became the first Sun Belt school since 2010 to post a perfect conference record (9-0), and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever.
