MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama Soccer (8-3-1, 4-1-1) is set to host Marshall (6-4-2, 2-2-2) at 7 p.m. on Friday at The Cage in Mobile, Ala.
SERIES HISTORY:
The Jags are 2-0-0 overall against the Thundering Herd, their last match resulting in a 2-0 victory on Sept. 24, 2023, in Huntington, W. Va.
SCOUTING THE JAGS:
- The Jags head into the match after shutting out Arkansas State 2-0 at The Cage. The victory marked South's sixth shutout for the season, and sophomore Kyra Kotsopoulos recorded her first goal.
- South Alabama is second in the Sun Belt overall and is tied for first in the conference in shutouts (3). The Jags also rank second in league play in points (40), goals allowed (4) and goals against average (.67).
- Sierra Giorgio is tied for second in the SBC in total shutouts (2), shutouts per game (.33) and goals against average (.69).
- Ava Matherne is tied for second in the league in points (9) and points per game (1.50).
- The Jags are tied for 24th in the nation in scoring offense (2.33 goals per game).
SCOUTING THE THUNDERING HERD:
- The Herd comes into the match after a scoreless draw with Old Dominion.
- Marshall is led offensively by Bailey Fisher, who has six goals, 13 points and 40 shots for the season.
- The Herd's keeper, Emma Durand, has 18 saves for the year.
