MOBILE, Ala. –
No. 15/16 University of South Alabama softball welcomes Southeastern Conference rival Mississippi State to Jaguar Field on Wednesday, looking to shrug off last week's 1-3 record with a 13th home victory in as many encounters this year.

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. Fans can find links to live stats, play-by-play audio presented by Braden Cheek as part of Jaguar All-Access and ticket information above. Wednesday  marks the final non-conference home game for the Jaguars and the first of six remaining home fixtures.

USA evened the schools' 2-2 all-time series record with a pair of victories over MSU in as many games a season ago, opening the campaign with a 3-2, come-from-behind victory in Starkville on Feb. 7 and blanking the Bulldogs, 3-0, in regional play in May.

The only meeting between the clubs in Mobile prior to that ended with Mississippi State on top, 7-2, at the 2012 Mardi Gras Invitational.

Mississippi State is 30-12 this year, 3-9 in SEC play. The Bulldogs' seven-game win streak was snapped by Missouri in SEC action last weekend, the Tigers taking two of three in that series. The Bulldogs won their first 15 games this year before dropping a, 1-0, eight-inning decision to Baylor at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Classic on Feb. 28.

The Bulldogs host No. 2/3 Alabama in a three-game league set this weekend.

South Alabama moved to 30-6 overall this year, 8-2 in Sun Belt Conference play after a shutout loss at Alabama on Wednesday and one win in three games at Texas State. After defeating the Bobcats, 8-0, in game one, USA fell, 4-1 and 4-3 to drop in first conference series of the season following sweeps of UT-Arlington and Louisiana-Monroe last month.

The Jaguars travel to No. 18/20 Louisiana-Lafayette this weekend for a three-game SBC series.

For the fourth week in row, the Jaguar pitching staff owns the NCAA's best ERA, boasting a 0.99, led by the nation's best in the category, junior Farish Beard and her 0.64. The Fairhope, Ala., native is also second in hits allowed per seven innings (2.68) and seventh in strikeouts per seven innings (10.6).

Counterpart Hannah Campbell owns the country's fifth-best ERA (0.78) and eighth-best walks-per-seven innings ratio (0.78).
