MOBILE, Ala. – Following a midweek victory at Troy on Wednesday, No. 12 University of South Alabama softball returns home to host Louisiana-Monroe in a Sun Belt Conference series that takes place at Jaguar Field on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday's doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m., precludes Sunday's finale, also slated for a 1 p.m. start.

USA (26-3, 4-0 SBC) brings a 10-game win streak into the weekend after a 9-1 win over the Trojans two days ago. The Jaguars are 4-0 atop SBC standings after opening league play with a series sweep of UT-Arlington in Mobile last weekend.
With a series-opening win on Saturday, this year's club could match the program's best-ever start to conference play, 5-0, set in 2012.
The Jaguar pitching staff entered the week with the nation's best ERA for the second week in a row, and, after allowing only one run to Troy on Wednesday, maintained its NCAA-low 0.90.
Louisiana-Monroe (15-10, 1-2 SBC) won its last contest, which took place almost two weeks ago, by regrouping from two losses to Texas State and winning the Sunday series finale.
USA is 9-0 at home this year and has outscored its opponents, 55-3, within the confines of Jaguar Field.
SERIES HISTORY VS. LOUISIANA-MONROEUSA leads the all-time series with the Warhawks, 18-5, and has won eight of the last nine meetings.
Scouting LOUISIANA-MONROEThe Warhawks are currently 15-10 overall and 1-2 in the Sun Belt Conference after taking game three of its league-opening series at Texas State. ULM's most notable victory this season was a 6-3 win over Ole Miss in Monroe, La.
As a team, ULM leads the conference with a .307 batting average, four points ahead of UL-Lafayette. The league's two Louisiana representatives are the only teams hitting above the .300 mark. Individually, Faith Bohack's fifth-best .394 average paces three Warhawks in the SBC's top 10 (Coy, eighth; Navarette, 10th).
Two of the conference's top three sluggers are Hollie Letourneau (1st, .788 SLG) and Faith Bohack (3rd, .704 SLG). Bohack leads the Warhawks at the plate, hitting .394 with 23 RBI. Meanwhile, Miyuki Navarrete is second on the team in hits with 27. She is 27-of-30 stealing bags this year. In the circle, Samantha Hamby, Jessica Colliver and Haylie Wilson have split the innings in conference play so far. Hamby has fanned a team-high 40 batters.
USA SWEEPS LOUISIANA-MONROE IN SBC SERIES - APRIL 20-21, 2013South Alabama outscored the Warhawks, 33-1, in three run-rule victories at Louisiana-Monroe last season. The Jaguars outhit ULM, 34-6, and recorded seven home runs against them. USA batted .425 that weekend to the Warhawks' .102. The Jaguars recorded a .763 slugging percentage and .510 on-base percentage.
Farish Beard went 2-0 in the circle that weekend, striking out 12 to two walks and allowing only a pair hits and no runs in seven innings pitched. Hannah Campbell was 1-0 with eight Ks to no walks and only one run allowed (earned) in eight innings. She allowed four hits.
BEST IN SHOWFor the second week in a row, No. 12/13 University of South Alabama's pitching staff entered the week leading the NCAA in ERA, with a 0.90. Junior righty Farish Beard came in as the nation's individual leader with a 0.41 ratio, while senior left-hander Hannah Campbell moved two spots to fifth this week, currently boasting a 0.70.
Beard also entered the week leading the country in hits allowed per seven innings (2.05), while ranking fourth in strikeouts per seven innings (11.5) and seventh in victories (14). Campbell is fourth in walks allowed per seven innings (0.62) and 10
th in saves (3).
USA ON THE ROADSince dropping a road game to top-ranked Alabama last season in Tuscaloosa, South Alabama has won 17 straight road contests. USA was 14-1 on the road last season, the nation's best road ratio, and is 5-0 on the road in 2014.
NCAA RPI UPDATE USA received its highest-ever ranking in this year's first edition of the NCAA RPI poll, the Jaguars appearing at No. 7.
HIGHEST RANKING IN HISTORYOn Monday, USA appeared at No. 12 in the
USA Today/NFCA Division I Top-25 poll, marking the program's highest-ever poll placement, after the Jaguars got as high as 13
th ahead of the NCAA postseason last year.
