NEW ORLEANS – University of South Alabama freshman
Tuki Jacobs earned the Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week award on Wednesday after an undefeated week in singles.
Jacobs went 2-0 in singles at flights 2 and 3 to improve to 11-5 this spring, and becomes the second Jaguar to receive the honor this season (
Daniel Leitner, Feb. 5).
The week began with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Illinois State's
Jacob Wilson at No. 2 before taking just two sets to dispatch
Takuma Ohashi of No. 66 Tulane 6-4, 6-3.
Jacobs improved to 2-1 against ranked schools with his win vs. Ohashi, and his 11 wins this season are second best on the team.
South Alabama faces in-state rival Troy Saturday at 10 a.m.
