South Alabama (6-11, 4-3 SBC) enters Wednesday's game versus the Panthers fresh off picking up its first road win of the season over the weekend at Texas-Arlington. USA defeated the Mavericks 73-72 in overtime.
The Jaguars hit a season-high 11 three-pointers in the win and Meghan Dunn sank a pair of free throws with 8.7 seconds remaining in overtime. UTA's shot at the buzzer was initially ruled good, but was waved off after review.
Both Dunn and Breanna Hall led the way for the Jags with 21-points apiece. Dunn was 6-of-6 at the foul line and had three treys, while Hall had four three-pointers of her own and a career-high five steals.
Dunn leads the club and ranks 11th in the Sun Belt in scoring with 12.4 points per game. The senior guard's three-point percentage (.413) is seventh-best in the league, while she is tied for fourth with 1.9 treys per game.
Hall is 11th in that category as she has knocked down 36.7 percent of her attempts. Sophomore guard Rachel Cumbo leads the conference, knocking down 52.5 percent of her long-range attempts. As a team, South Alabama continues to lead the Sun Belt in three-point shooting (.380) and threes per game (7.0). USA has knocked down seven or more treys in a game 10 times this season and are 50-for-116 (.431) versus SBC foes.
The Jaguars are second in the conference in free-throw shooting (.700) and third in three-point field-goal percentage (.299).
Along with being the top outside shooter in the league, Cumbo also ranks third in the SBC at the free-throw line (.885) and field-goal percentage (.463). Her free-throw percentage is 21st nationally. Cumbo sits just outside of double figures at 9.7 ppg.
Ronneka Robertson is averaging 8.6 ppg and 8.6 rpg, while also shooting 43.4 percent from the field. She ranks second in the conference in rebounding and has led USA on the glass 13 times this season and recorded double-figure rebounding games seven times.
Georgia State (9-10, 5-2 SBC) enters play this week tied with Western Kentucky for second place in the conference. The Panthers have also won four straight, defeating both Louisiana-Monroe and Louisiana-Lafayette on the road last week.
"Georgia State is playing with so much more confidence right now," South Alabama head coach Terry Fowler said. "They are playing with a lot of pace at the offensive end of the floor and they are really sharing the ball and making the extra pass. Their defensive activity is great. They are a different ball club than the first time we faced them. It's going to be a challenge for us playing them at their place."
GSU is also 2-0 in Sun Belt home games this season.
The Panthers are led by preseason all-conference selection Kendra Long who is tied for seventh in the league in scoring with 13.9 ppg. Long also ranks among the league leaders in assists, free-throw shooting, steals, three-point shooting and three-pointers per game.
Junior center Brittany Logan is coming off an impressive week where she averaged 14.0 ppg and 13.0 rpg in the Panthers' two wins. Logan is seventh in the SBC on the glass with 7.0 boards per game. Logan is also eighth in the conference in field-goal percentage (.469).

The Panthers also have one of the top three-point shooters in the conference in Gabby Moss. Moss' 44.0 three-point percentage is second best in the SBC.
