JAG BASEBALL TO OPEN SBC PLAY AT TROY

Jaguar right-hander Brandon Boyle will make his second start of the season this weekend at Troy.


MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama baseball will open Sun Belt Conference play this weekend when it travels to Troy, Ala., for a three-game series with Troy.

All three games of the series will be webcast, and can be purchased through the All-Access section at USAJaguars.com. Each game will also be broadcast live on WNSP 105.5 FM in Mobile, and may be accessed nationwide at WNSP.com. Left-hander Jacob Noble (3-0) will make his fifth start of the season in the series opener Friday at 6 p.m., while Troy right-hander Tanner Hicks (3-0) is slated to start for the Trojans.

The second game of the three-game set is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch on Saturday. USA right-hander Brandon Boyle (0-1) will make his second start of the season for the Jaguars, and will square off with Troy right-hander Will Starling (3-1).

Sunday’s series finale, scheduled for 1 p.m., will feature Jag right-hander Jarron Cito (0-1) going against Trojan left-hander Shane McCain (3-0).

South Alabama (15-3) has won five of its last six games entering the weekend after defeating Alabama State 5-1 Tuesday in Montgomery.

The Jags hold a 36-28 all-time series lead over the Trojans, but are just 10-17 all-time at Troy. USA is 11-16 in regular season games against Troy since the Trojans joined the league in 2006.
