JAGUARS RETURN HOME TO HOST CROSS-TOWN FOE SPRING HILL

Game 7 - vs. Spring Hill Game Notes (.pdf)

MOBILE, Ala. – After spending the Thanksgiving break out west, the University of South Alabama women's basketball team returns home Tuesday night to host cross-town rival Spring Hill. Tip off versus SHC is set for 5:05 p.m.  The game will be the first of three straight for the Jaguars at the Mitchell Center.

Live stats and web streaming for the contest versus the Badgers will be available at www.USAJaguars.com.

South Alabama (0-6) comes into Tuesday night's contest versus the Badgers after dropping its two matches over the weekend at the 27th Annual Omni Hotels Classic in Boulder, Colo.  USA fell 94-61 at then 14th-ranked Colorado and then 70-49 to in-state rival Samford on Saturday in the consolation game.

The Buffaloes and Bulldogs each shot over 50 percent in the two games, while the Jaguars managed to knock down just 35.6 percent of its shot attempts.

Senior forward Jennifer Johnson posted her best two outings of the season at the Colorado tourney, averaging 15.0 points per game and shooting 63.2 percent from the floor.  For her efforts, Johnson was selected to the all-tournament team and raised her season average to 9.6 ppg - second on the Jaguar roster.

Meghan Dunn continues to pace the club offensively as she is averaging 11.5 ppg. The senior guard from Hover, Ala., is also one of the top three-point shooters in the conference, ranking fifth in the league in that category as she is converting 42.3 percent of her tries.  As a team, the Jaguars lead the conference in three-point shooting.

Sophomore guard/forward Rachel Cumbo is tied for top honors in the SBC in long-range shooting as she comes in connecting on 50 percent of her attempts.  Cumbo set a new career-best versus Colorado as she led USA with 19 points.  Cumbo is third on the club with 9.2 points per outing.

Ronneka Robertson ranks among the SBC leaders in rebounds (5th - 7.7), free-throw shooting (.737), offensive rebounds (11th - 2.5) and defensive rebounds (T-7th - 5.2).

Spring Hill enters the game versus the Jags with a 2-5 record and the Badgers' two wins have come in their last two games.

"They're a team that plays quite a few people," South Alabama head coach Terry Fowler said.  "With us playing man-to-man, it could be difficult, because what we've seen on film is them playing zone. They've got a couple of kids that can really shoot the basketball, and they've got a really good post player. Their effort and toughness is a concern of mine; they're really going to get after it. We're going to have to not match their energy but beat their energy in order to make sure we take care of business here."

Bethany Collins leads the club offensively with a 10.1 points per game average.  She is shooting 31 percent from the arc.  SHC's leading scorer Leah Washington will miss Tuesday's game due to injury.  Washington is averaging 10.5 ppg.

Spring Hill's top threat from outside the three-point line is Leah Washington.  Broussard has knocked down 14 of her 34 attempts from the arc for a team-best 41.2 percentage.  She is also averaging 7.7 ppg.

Freshman post player Tempey Hamilton leads SHC on the glass with 7.9 rebounds per game.
