South Alabama (304-319-307) turned in a three-round team total of 930, and finished eighth in the field.
“We counted a high round every round, but we had at least one good score each day,” USA head coach TJ Jackson said. “We had pretty good play out of our first two to three spots, we just lacked a little in the four and five spots and we all know that. We just have to play a little better all the way through the lineup, and we’ll be where we want to be.
“It (Limestone Springs) is a tough golf course, and the greens are fast and firm. It had some tough pins; it was set up pretty tough. We had a chance in the first and third rounds to shoot lower than what we did, but we didn’t quite finish in each round.”
Troy captured the tournament title with a three-round 914, while Newberry College’s Maria Luz Besio earned medalist honors with a three-round total of 219.
South Alabama will close its regular season April 16-18 at the Sun Belt Conference Championship in Muscle Shoals, Ala.
