USA SOFTBALL HEADS TO TROY FOR FINAL SUN BELT CONFERENCE DOUBLEHEADER

Druhan leads the team with with 136 strikeouts in 110 innings pitched.
MOBILE, Ala. - The University of South Alabama softball team travels to Troy for its final Sun Belt Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Trojan Softball Complex. The first pitch of Saturday’s doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.

The Jaguars enter the contest with 34-14 record on the year and a 13-9 conference record. In the final weekend of regular season play the Jags are currently ranked third in the league. USA is 7-6 at Jaguar Field and 6-3 on the road this season.

Sophomore Meghan Collins continues to pace the Jags at the plate with a .373 batting average. She has recorded 31 runs and 45 hits, including a team-leading 11 doubles. Collins is ranked among the league leaders in batting average (.373) and on base percentage (.479).

Outfielder Brittany Fowler is tied for first on the team with 48 hits, and leads the squad with 33 runs. She has also recorded a .340 batting average through 48 games this season.  Fowler is among the SBC leaders in batting average (.340), on base percentage (.436), triples (3) and sacrifice flies (4).

Freshman Haley Richards has a team-leading .365 batting average in SBC action.  In league play, she is tied for second on the team in hits (19).
Christin Crocker and Haley Hopkins are tied for first in home runs (9). Crocker and Hopkins are also in a tie for first on the programs all-time home run list (19). Jenny Stevens follows close behind with seven home runs on the season and 18 career homers.

Freshman pitcher Hannah Campbell leads the team with a 16-5 record. She has gone the distance 18 times this season while recording 111 strikeouts in 144 innings of work. The left-hander has recorded a program-high tying four saves and five shutouts this season.

Morgan Druhan continues to pace the Jags in the circle with 136 strikeouts in 110 innings pitched. She ranks in the top ten in the conference in opposing batting average (.202) and batters struck out (136).

The Trojans have a 7-6 all-time lead over the Jags. The Trojans enter the contest with a 29-24 overall record and a 10-11 record in SBC action. The Jags are looking to clinch the final two games of the series after dropping a 0-2 decision to Troy earlier this season at Jaguar Field. Nikki Hollet hit a two-run homer in the top of the fourth to earn the win.

Hollett paces the Trojans with a team-leading .366 batting average, while recording 41 runs and 64 hits. She also leads the team with 16 doubles, 19 home runs and 54 RBI. Michelle Hewett and Hayden Gann are tied for second on the team with a .325 batting average.

Ashlyn Williams leads Troy in the circle with a 2.07 ERA while striking out 251 batters in 189 innings pitched.  She has gone the distance 21 times this season while earning three saves and seven shutouts.
