USA SOFTBALL TRAVELS TO SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA FOR MIDWEEK GAME

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama softball team travels to Louisiana to take on Southeastern Louisiana Tuesday night in a midweek game. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. at North Oak Park.

The Jaguars enter the contest with a 29-12 overall record and a 9-7 Sun Belt Conference record.

Last week, USA won its fourth conference series of the season falling to Florida Atlantic 4-3 in game one, and coming back to win its final two games 10-1 and 4-3.

The Jags are 11-7 at home and 6-4 on the road this season.  South Alabama is ranked second in the league in team batting (.317) and third in team pitching (2.70).

Sophomore Meghan Collins continues to pace the Jaguars at the plate with a team-leading .394 batting average. She has also recorded 41 hits including a team-high eight doubles.

Christin Crocker and Haley Hopkins are tied for the team lead in home runs with eight. Crocker, Hopkins and Jenny Stevens are in a three-way tie for the program’s all-time career home run leader (18).

Hopkins has recorded a .328 batting average while notching 31 runs, 39 hits and 35 RBI.

Stevens continues to lead the team in walks (21) and stolen bases (24). She is ranked second in the league in the latter category.
Outfielder Brittany Fowler has tallied a team-leading 46 hits, 47 RBI and a .664 slugging percentage through 41 games this season. She is ranked fifth in the league in team batting (.387).

Left-hander Hannah Campbell (14-5) has struck out 101 batters in 121 innings pitched, while holding opposing batters to a .232 batting average. Sophomore Morgan Druhan (8-6) continues to lead the Jags in the circle with 125 strikeouts in 97.1 innings.

USA holds a 9-1 all-time series lead over Southeastern and are 5-1 when playing at Jaguar Field, 3-0 at North Oak Park and are 1-0 when playing at a neutral site. Earlier this season, the Jaguar defeated the Lady Lions 7-1 in the South Alabama Invitational.

Southeastern (17-21) enters the contest after dropping its three-game series against Southland Conference opponent Northwestern State. The Lady Lions split their doubleheader falling 2-3 in game one and coming back to win 5-2 game two. In the series finale, Southeastern fell 0-1 at Northwestern State.

Offensively, the Lions are led by Kelsey Nicholls who carries the team lead in batting average (.404) runs (19) and hits (44). Katie Duhe is batting .329 while recording 13 runs and 28 hits.

Jesse Brown (6-7) leads the Southeastern pitching staff with 49 strikeouts in 58.2 innings of work.
