JAG SOFTBALL TO HOST JACKSON STATE


MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama softball team returns home to take on Jackson State Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Jaguar Field.

After the weekend, South Alabama improved to 18-3 and is currently on a 12-game win streak. The Jags went 5-0 last weekend in the University of Central Florida Invitational defeating Florida A&M, UCF, Monmouth and 38th ranked Virginia Tech twice.

The Jaguars lead the Sun Belt Conference in triples (8) and home runs (9), total bases (341), total plate appearances (691) and at bats (568).

Sophomore first baseman Meghan Collins leads the league in batting with a .483 average. She is also ranked in the top five in the conference in on base percentage (.552) and hits (28). Brittany Fowler has a team-leading 33 hits and a .725 slugging percentage.

Sophomore pitcher Morgan Druhan leads the Jaguar pitching staff with 78 strikeouts in 50 innings of work.

The Jags have a 3-0 all-time series lead over JSU. USA has not faced the Tigers since 2009 when the Jags defeated JSU 9-1.

JSU (5-10) enters the game after defeating Southeastern Louisiana 2-1 Wednesday night in Jackson,Miss.
