JAG SOFTBALL TO OPEN LEAGUE PLAY AGAINST LOUISIANA-MONROE

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama softball team travels to Louisiana to take on Louisiana-Monroe in its first Sun Belt Conference series Saturday-Sunday.

The Jags improved to 19-3 after shutting out Jackson State 1-0 Thursday night at Jaguar Field. Brittany Fowler led the team at the plate going 2-for-3, while Christen Crocker recorded one hit. Sophomore pitcher Morgan Druhan struck out a career-high 15 batters to earn the win.

Entering the weekend the Jaguars are currently ranked second in the conference and are on a 13-game win streak dating back to February 13th.

Fowler has recorded a team-leading 32 hits and 28 RBI and is batting .478. Meghan Collins is batting .475 and has recorded 28 hits and 16 runs

Jenny Stevens and Haley Hopkins are tied with a team-leading six home runs on the season. Katy Neal and Crocker follow close behind with five and four homers respectively.

Druhan (6-1) leads the team with 83 strike outs in 50 innings of work, and is holding opposing batters to a .170 batting average. Hannah Campbell leads the team with three saves and has struck out 53 batters in 55.2 innings. Junior pitcher Lindsey Croft (6-2) has a team-leading seven wins in the circle.

The Jags hold an 8-4 all-time series lead over ULM. Last season, the Jaguars went 2-1 against the Warhawks splitting its games on day one (7-6)(2-4) and winning the final contest of the series (3-1).

ULM (11-10) enters the weekend after defeating Furman (12-3), Georgia Southern (10-5), and falling to Stephen F. Austin (10-3) and Tennessee (3-1).

The Warhaws are led offensively by Roxane Cassel, Janel Salanoa, and Brianna Love who are all batting .333. Tiffany Mills (5-6) leads ULM’s pitching staff with 34 strike outs in 60 innings of work.
