MOBILE, Ala. – Sophomore pitcher Morgan Druhan struck out a career-high 15 batters to lead the Jags to a 1-0 shutout against Jackson State Thursday night at Jaguar Field.
“Morgan did a great job tonight,” USA head coach Becky Clark stated. “We got her one run and she was able to make ithold up. It’s always huge when your offense squeaks one out and your pitching and defense can back it up to get the win.”
The Jags improved to 19-3 and have now won their last 13 games dating back to February 13th.
USA pushed the only run of the game across with one out in the top of the fifth when Julie Moss scored on a wild pitch.
Brittany Fowler led the Jags at the plate going 2-for-3, while Christen Crocker recorded one hit.
Druhan (6-1) held the Tigers hitless through the first three innings, while USA outhit the Tigers 3-2. The Spanish Fort, Ala., native went the distance in the circle allowing only two hits and walking one.
Breea Jamerson (3-4) took the loss for JSU in six innings, striking out two Jaguar batters.
The Jags return to action when they travel to Monroe Louisiana for their conference opener against Louisiana Monroe Saturday-Sunday.
