MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama softball team opens its fall schedule Saturday with games against Pensacola Junior College and Faulkner State Community College at Jaguar Field.
USA will take on PJC at 2 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m. matchup against FSCC.
The Jaguars return 10 players from the 2009-10 seasons that went 21-24, and welcome six newcomers’, three of which are true freshmen.
“This weekend is a chance for us to see what we have,” said USA head softball coach Becky Clark. “We have people playing in new positions and the addition of several new players so it gives them a chance to all play together. It also gives the coaching staff an opportunity to see what areas we need to work on.”
USA sophomore Brittany Fowler returns after leading the team in runs scored (32), hits (47), triples (3), and at-bats (138). The Jacksonville, Fla. native received second team all-Sun Belt Conference honors and started in all 44 games last season as a freshman.
