AUBURN, Ala. - Five Auburn pitchers combined to allow just two runs, and the Tigers used a three-run second inning to knock off University of South Alabama baseball 6-2 Wednesday night at Plainsman Park and snap the Jaguars' six-game win streak.
Auburn held the Jaguar offense scoreless for the final four innings, while scoring three unanswered runs en route to its 20th win of the season.

Auburn left-hander Cory Luckie (2-2) earned the win in two shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out one. Michael Hurst earned the save in two shutout innings, allowing just two hits while striking out three.
USA right-hander Lance Brown took the loss in 1.1 innings, allowing three runs on one hit, while striking out one and issuing two walks.
Auburn scored three runs in the second inning, and held the Jaguars scoreless in seven innings as University of South Alabama baseball fell to the Tigers 6-2 Wednesday night at Plainsman Park.
Auburn (20-10) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Creede Simpson drew a bases-loaded walk to score Tony Caldwell, after the Tigers loaded the bases with a single, hit by pitch and walk. Justin Bryant scored on Justin Fradejas' sacrifice fly to center field, and Trent Mummey scored the final run of the inning on an RBI single by Justin Hargett.
USA cut the Auburn lead to 3-1 in the top of the third inning when Clint Reynolds scored on Jake Overstreet's groundout to third base, after leading off the inning with a single.
Adam Heisler cut the Auburn lead to 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning when he delivered a solo home run, his third of the season, over the right field wall.
The Tigers answered in the bottom of the fifth with one run on three hits to double their lead to 4-2. Tony Caldwell singled to right field to score Brian Fletcher, who singled to lead off the inning.
Auburn extended its lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Creede Simpson scored on a squeeze bunt by Fradejas, after tripling to right-center field earlier in the inning.
The Tigers added a run in the bottom of the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly by Hunter Morris to score Fradejas, who singled to lead off the inning.
"The three-run second inning hurt us, but it was a well-played game on both sides," USA head coach Steve Kittrell said. "We just didn't swing the bats like we normally do. We had 10 hits, but their pitchers scattered them and didn't walk anybody. They played a good game, but I thought our guys did too. Both teams played hard and wanted to win tonight, but give credit to Auburn. They got the big hits when they had to have them."
USA (22-11, 10-2 SBC) returns to action when it opens a three-game Sun Belt Conference series at Western Kentucky Friday at 6 p.m.
