BOCAERT, VIEL ADVANCE AT D’NOVO/ITA ALL-AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS

TULSA, Okla. - The University of South Alabama’s Lucas Viel (Boussy-Saint-Antoine, France) and Romain Bocaert (Lille, France) fought through the first two rounds of the doubles qualifying bracket at the D’Novo/ITA All-American Men’s Tennis Championships to advance to the final round tomorrow.

Bocaert and Viel came back from a 7-5 deficit against TCU’s Paul Chappell and Cameron Nash to win 9-8 (5) in round one.

“This morning’s match was crazy, but the guys stayed focused and fought very hard,” said USA head coach Nick Brochu. “Lucas and Romain had great composure."

The Jaguar duo’s next match was against the 9-16 seed, Austen Childs and Vikto Maksimcuk of Louisville, who they defeated 9-7.

"We had a very slow start against Louisville,” said Brochu. “We were hitting very soft and got down 3-0, but we bounced back and won the next five games. From that point on they were very aggressive. Even after Louisville broke back to even the match at 6-6, we stayed focused and kept putting pressure on them. The guys are communicating well and we’re looking forward to tomorrow's match."

The Jags will need to win one more match to advance to the doubles main draw on Oct. 7.
