Nixon led the way and helped the Lady Jags get off to a 2-0 start to the 2012-13 season with wins over Houston Baptist and Tennessee State. For the week, Nixon averaged 19 points and 5.5 rebounds per outing while shooting 53.8 percent from the floor, including making 4-of-6 (66.7 percent) from the three-point line. Nixon began the week and the season with a career-high 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting in USA’s 30-point road win over the Huskies on Friday. In the contest, she also tied for top honors by pulling down seven rebounds in 28 minutes of action. On Monday night, the Pensacola, Fla., native followed up her season-opening performance with a 16-point outing. She was 5-for-12 from the field versus the Lady Tigers and knocked down two of her three attempts from long range and four of her six at the charity stripe. In a close ball game Nixon played big in the second half, posting 12 of her 16 points in the final 20 minutes of play.
