Schwartz won the heptathlon at the season-opening Birmingham Icebreaker Wednesday, scoring 3,835 points to set a new school record; she also ranks second in the nation thus far this season with the performance.  The senior won two of the five events in the competition, taking both the high jump on a 1.67m mark and the 800-meter run in a time of 2:22.73.  Schwartz placed second in the long jump (5.63m) and 60-meter hurdles (8.90s), and threw for a mark of 10.48m in the shot put to earn third place in the event.
